Short version
JerkDefender does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any user data with anyone. Everything the extension does happens entirely on your device, inside your browser. There is no server to talk to. There is no analytics. There is no tracking.
What data JerkDefender accesses
JerkDefender uses the Chrome extension APIs to delete the following, only when you've configured it to and only on your own device:
- Your browsing history (via
chrome.browsingData.removeHistory) - Your cookies (via
chrome.cookiesandchrome.browsingData.removeCookies), respecting your whitelist - Your cached data (via
chrome.browsingData.removeCache) - Your open tabs (via
chrome.tabs) - Your browser's idle state (via
chrome.idle) to detect when you've stepped away
JerkDefender reads this data only long enough to delete or close it. Nothing is retained, logged, copied, or sent off your device.
What gets saved locally
Your settings (wait time, which items to erase, your domain whitelist) are stored in chrome.storage.local, which is a per-browser, per-profile key-value store that never leaves your device. JerkDefender does not sync these settings anywhere.
Third parties
JerkDefender does not use any third-party services, SDKs, analytics, error tracking, or advertising libraries. The extension has zero network requests.
Children
JerkDefender is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change this policy, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date. The extension itself will not notify you.
